Teach Your Kids the Art of Rhyming & Poetry

Have you ever wondered why kids enjoy poetry so much? When you look closely into kids poems, they are as simple as they can get. Many of them are simply words put together that tell about things around. The best example here is “Roses are Red, Violets are Blue…” The reason why this kind of poetry appeals to them is the fact that they are fun to speak out. They are also catchy and good to remember. With the help of poetry, your kids learn new words effectively and also build on their memory. You can always use this quality of rhymes to benefit them. One way to do this is by encouraging them to do poetry themselves. All they need is creativity and some direction. While creativity lies within them, your job is to help them come with an amazing poem. You can help your child come up with a rhyme by following the steps below:

1. The first step is to do your research on rhymes. You need to be prepared with a list of words known to your child and their rhymes. With this, you can guide them easily whenever they get stuck. It is also better to go through rhymes that are made by kids. You can understand what topics or content would go better. To get hold of this, you can also try making your own poetry.
   
   
2. The next step is to sit with your kid when they have a lot of time to kill. Try to make it more fun for your kid; make it more like a game. This way they will be motivated to do better and have fun.
   
   
3. The first thing to do is choose a topic. Keep the topic as simple as you can and it needs to be familiar to your child. A pencil, a leaf, grandmother, etc. to name a few.
   
   
4. Once you choose the topic, you can start building the poem in two ways. One way is you give it the first sentence and let your child continue. Help your child with the words, especially the rhymes. The second way is to let your child start building the sentence and turn wise you continue the poem. This way it could be more fun and you can come up with funny stories along the way.
   
   
5. A few things to remember while making the poem is that you need to encourage your child at every step. Let your child cook up stories themselves irrespective of the fact that it makes sense; this way they will get more creative. Try to introduce more words through this activity that are not too difficult for your child. Ensure the fact that the child is actively participating and also learning to make a poem.
