6 Craft Ideas to Create Using Waste Material

Whether your child needsbest out of waste’ craft ideas for a school project or just wants to make crafts for fun, here are some easy and creative experiments you can try:

1.   Photo frame from old newspapers

This is a very easy ‘waste material best out of waste’ idea, that your child can easily make with a little help. Take multiple newspapers and tear each sheet apart. Now, start rolling the newspaper from a corner to make thin rolls and paste the edge of the newspaper to secure the roll. This is a fun process, and your child will enjoy it.

Now, take a cardboard piece in any size that you want. Place the photograph that you want to frame in the centre of the frame and draw its outlines. Start sticking the newspaper rolls on the outlines and cover all four sides. Cut the extra newspaper. Your baby can paint the frame in any colour you like. Paste the photograph and your photo frame is ready.

2.   Table organiser from empty tissue paper rolls

If your child’s study table is always cluttered, ask them to make this stationary organiser with you. Take at least 4 empty tissue rolls. Paste them together using hot glue.Let your child colour it and decorate it with stickers.

Use each roll to hold colours, sketch pens, pencils, highlighters, and other stationery items. Now, your child will be excited to use their DIY table organiser every day and keep their desk neat and clean.

3.   Vase from plastic bottles

Your child can easily make a vase from plastic bottles. Use 2-litre cold drink bottles, remove the lid and cut the top of the bottle. Cover the bottle with a mixture of Fevicol and water and stick tissue paper on the bottle. Let your child colour the bottle. Make flowers out of air-dry clay and stick it on the bottle. Your vase is ready!

4.   Windchimes from old tin cans

If you have cold drink cans lying around in your house, you can use them to make a windchime for your child’s room. You would need to guide your child through the entire process. You can use sharp scissors to cut 10 circles or butterflies out of the cans.

Cut 5 strings of equal length. Cut a 5-6 inches circle from a cardboard box. Make 5 slits in the circle to place the strings. Keeping the silver side outside, place the string between two circles and paste using Fevicol. Your wind chime from waste material is ready.

5.   Paintings from eggshells

You can help your child make a textured painting from eggshells. Crush the eggshells into tiny pieces and separate them into 3 or 4 batches. Add a different colour to each batch to colour the eggshells. Your baby can use these eggshells to make a painting of their choice.
